The Awesome Humbling Weekend

Howdy folks,
I hope you find these passages encouraging.

Hebrews 3:12-13
See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Hebrews 10:22-25
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

This past weekend had been awesome and it has been really, really humbling. It was really great to be able to spend all saturday with friends, making breakfast, going to the SJ Earthquakes game to see Landon Donovan and Freddy Adu play, going to University Chicken for their "Global Thermonuclear" Hot Wings and watch each other's eyes water, faces turn red and sweat coming down the face, just for a little hot wing! And the rest of the day, enjoying dinner with good friends and going to Fluid to hang with GW and others. It's just a blessing to be able to spend good times together. Bonfire at the beach was also nice. It was a surprise for DY and it was a good time of worship.

It's so easy to be hardened by sin, or to be bitter and cynical as we grow older in the world. More messed up things we see, the easier the inclination to say that there is no God, or even if there's a God, that he doesn't care. But this weekend I've been humbled, hollowed out, and have been pushed by the sense of urgency to get right with God, as fast as I can, to perservere and hold onto the assurance of faith that Christ has provided for us. To be provided grace so that I can encourage others. To give up what I hold so tightly in order to allow God to work in me. Gotta trust that God has the best for me, even if for a little while it might be painful. Okay, bring it on...
