Mood: Relieved that it's all over
Listening: Norah Jones, Lisa Ono
Well it's all over. They're tearing down our office as we speak and with Brazil hoisting the world cup trophy once again, it's our time to say good bye to the tournament and also to Seoul. I've had a great time here. I'll always remember the time when I watched Korea play Italy and then against Germany in front of an entire stadium full of red devil fans, chanting "Tae Han Min Gook" at the top of own lungs. There's nothing quite like it. It's really been a blessing to be able to join in on such an event. For a moment there I really felt like everyone in the world put aside their struggles for a bit and joined in to watch something they all share...the common bond. I was really touched by the 3rd place game, where at the end all the turkish and Korean players came together and thanked the fans....together instead of going to their separate teams. That was awesome. It's really what the world cup is all about. The joy of the sport transcending boundaries. Even the most cynical person has to give in to that scene.
I'm going to miss this place, but at the same time, man, I just wanna go home. So many things happened while I was away and I just wanna sleep on my own bed. But I have one more week left in Asia, as I head over to Hong Kong to see some relatives. It'll be a good breather for me. I have to say, I think Koreans are friendlier than the Japanese and the Chinese. Well, it really doesn't matter. Let's change subjects...oh....did I tell you that I dyed my hair? :P
[ Quick Update - So I haven't blogged for the longest time...that's because I thought this post got deleted when I submitted a couple of weeks back. Ever since that incident I told myself that I'll never blog again...but hey, whatdayaknow...that do have my blog on the server after all. So I guess I'll blog again...You guys should all just save your journals on your hard drives first...you never know when blogger's gonna go down... ]
