"Your calling is the place where your deepest joy and the world's greatest needs cross." Frederick Buechner. That quote compliments of Cqli's blog. My calling has to be related to my Faith, my passion in art/design, and my love and experience in traveling and living in various parts of the world. I can't point it out yet...but it's slowly getting more and more focused. I just can't totally see it yet. Also, there's the cost of answering your calling. Of course, the cookie cutter answer is that the cost of not following your calling is greater than following it, but it's more complex than that. Gotta think about sacrificing the security of having a highpaying job, an easy and cozy life, particularly in the bay area, for something lesser materially. Also gotta sacrifice having easy comfort of close friends who'll understand you and also be able to enjoy and have fun together. That's why I admire missionaries a lot. They sacrifice so much and get out of their comfort zone in order to do what they're called to do, and they do it because they're really convicted. That's definitely easier than going to church on sunday and "checking in", going on cruise control well on the way to a soft and yuppie life. But the life that we're given is not our own but the Lord's, and He has the best plan for us if we trust Him, nor does a cozy yuppie life always equates to a satisfying life because I'm sure someone like me will want my life to mean something and be an adventure. Eh, just playing brain tennis on this issue. I'm praying....
