Moving On...

Sunset at Ocean Beach

Well, it has only been 2 weeks since I've been back from traveling around Europe and this weekend I'll be packing the Penske and moving out of my apartment of 4 years. I've got so much junk it's surreal. Seems like things just creep up on you...in the attic, at the back of the walk-in closet. Along with trying to pack my entire life into digestable boxes of cardboard, comes the natural purging of stuff...stuff that I thought I would hold on to forever or used to have value. Items go thru the scrutiny, and rests either into a box, continuing the journey with me, or goes into the trash bag and will be forgotten. Some items requires pondering, and triggers an experience I had back in the days. Sigh. Bottom line is, there has been so many changes to my life this year. Quitting my job, traveling to Asia, New York/Boston, Yosemite, Europe, moving, relationships... and while I feel like I've been living out of a backpack for a long time, and going to cities that I thought I would like to live in, I've realized that I would like to stay in the Bay Area. That even though San Francisco doesn't have the glamour of a New York, Hong Kong, or Tokyo, nor is it a cultural powerhouse of a London, what it is, is that it feels the most like home. The people, the little favorite spots, a burrito in the Mission, the sunset on a good day at Ocean beach, Twin Peaks, Treasure Island, driving on the Bay Bridge, strolling through Embarcadero, watching a Giants game at Pacbell, touch football at Tiburon, Hayes Valley and Fillmore, Okonomiyaki in Japantown, jogging at Land's End, Sushi in Alameda, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, even being able to drive down to Monterey and seeing those orange jellyfishes and cruising on 17 mile drive. San Francisco is special. And even though temporarily I'm moving out of the city, I'm looking forward to living in the city again real soon...
