Interdependence and the two minute drill

As I'm jobhunting and doing research, here's what's bouncing around in my head:

Thought #1 - We were made for interdependence

"We were made different not so that we should be separate, we were made different in order to know our need of one another" - Desmond Tutu

In the webdesign world, no one can learn everything about visual design, IA, latest web 2.0 tricks, and read up on trends of the sector. Gone are the days of static pages and to do anything decent, we need connections and collaborators. That how we learn. And of course, it helps to learn from the smart and talented people. No, this isn't rocket science, I know. But just a mental note.

Thought #2 - Think 2 Minute Drill.

"Try getting in the mind-set of a quarterback facing a two-minute warning from the moment you start on a project. Instead of the long ball, try to get a few yards, passing to the sidelines to stop the clock. Just keep the momentum going."

Sometimes I've got a great idea, and I get excited about the project, draw up a grand scheme, and....fail to follow through until the end. I'm sure we all have those moments. But the key is to keep working at it, even if you don't know how to code, how to get users, or figure out the business case. You can figure out on the fly. That's what happened to Jeff Bezos and Amazon. Yes, also not rocket science. But it does help.

Site of the moment:
Virgin Atlantic Flights
by The Groop

Gets the juices flowing about the joys of air travel...minus the security checks and layovers. They have a specific slideshow for every flight they fly. Wonderfully designed site, great concept, nice slideshow, soothing music.
