The W
New York City
Well after work today I went to see Blackhawk Down with Dave and his friend Michelle. It was a very intense movie. Maybe it was the fact that the real events of the movie happened in 1993, which makes it hard not to imagine it happening as I live my life here in the US. There was a scene when the soldier was reporting to duty, and his birthday was in 1975. He was only 18 when it happened. I dunno, but I think this time around the movie really made me realize that war is hell. I mean, watching private ryan was pretty intense also, but it happened during WWII and I keep thinking that it’s in the past, like history. But this movie connected with me. If God had placed me in such a position I would be out there. It’s really sad actually, cuz when I see an American soldier die I feel really bad, but the number of Somalis who died was unbelievable. I think the ratio was like 50 to 1. That’s incredible. I thank the soldiers who fought for us. But somehow I don’t know if the cause was justified.
So it’s always weird to watch a movie like that and get back out into the real world. But out we came, into Times Square and all. I guess I’m a cheesy guy, but man, I’m just thankful for so many things in my life. God has blessed me in so many ways, which is even more incredible given the world that we live in. This world, it’s all broken, but yet, we all have to do our best to continue, and to continue to love and do the right thing. We all gotta have something to live for. Or else we’re just wasting our time.
Come on, smile, for God has delivered us. And it’s all because of Grace that we’re saved. Amen we’re saved! So what are you going to do with your time? For much is given, much is expected.
